HW Prototyping Development Specialist

  • Prototyping new concepts and features for next generation consumer and enterprise drones, controllers and docking stations by creating, assembling and testing parts and components for NPI stage to improve customer experiences. 

  • Support RF and EE teams with complex PCBA reworks including BGA, custom wire bonding on Chip-Scale Packages, RF Filters, RF Shielding leading to 2.4GHz to 6GHz capabilities on devices while passing EMI, certifications, and FCC compliance.  

  • Set up and meticulously organized assembly lines with parts to efficiently build prototypes of new drone docking stations. Kept inventory and locations of parts and tools in shared lab space for others. Verified part assembly while providing feedback to supply chain regarding quality for ECO. 

  • Created custom test fixtures, harnesses and wiring to test electrical circuits, analyzer fixtures and thermal chambers for SW, Embedded, EE, and Hardware Reliability teams for new board bring ups. 3D printed SLA and PLA PCBA flashing fixtures. 

  • Help run CNC and milling machines to modify and correct errors from supplier parts. Created basic CADs to 3D print fixtures for RF antenna prototyping and antenna soldering assembly. Made test rigs for testing RF antenna deployments. 

  • Quickly designed and manufactured custom 24U travel cases by using laser cutter and plastics to enhance battery cycling for new battery packs. Also designed and laser cut acrylic frames to hold PCBAs for multiple teams to speed board bring up. 

  • Managed a team of 8 manufacturing operators and created a production line to complete the initial build of the company's first controller and completed weeks ahead of schedule. Set up and organize assembly lines daily with parts and directions to efficiently build while tasking operators based on their specific skill sets. Provided feedback to engineering teams and supply chain regarding quality and part modifications. 

  • Help clean and organize lab space, setting weekly team clean and purging. Help to order any parts and equipment for engineering teams. Build custom equipment for making test more reliable. Maintenance on 3D printing lab, replacing filament and fixing downed printers.

Created tutorials videos and slides as reference guides for soldering specific areas of the drones. Helped provide bulk sub assemblies and parts when manufacturing production line was in short supply from vendors.

  • Assisted in prototype and development of EBPay, company’s first RFID cashless system. Quickly debugged issues between board revisions to deploy on schedule. Attended Organizer’s events to assist, help setup and troubleshoot devices.

  • Prototyped barcode scanners with Arduino and UART to integrate into current access control solution. Tested with different distributors to find low cost modules. 

  • Assisted design, assembly, and debugging prototype PCB boards for testing antenna and RFID functionality. Rework and repair SMT components in RFID field devices.

  • Continued in company's RFID Access Control solution to a global scale by manufacturing and building out +300 RFID access devices. Maintained all hardware access control devices by ensuring proper device functionality, version control, remotely monitored and configured firmware and software before onsite events.

  • Developed documentation, and ran test plans for new RFID wristband vendors to ensure proper production for events. Tested RFID chips per vendor for proper cross functionality with Eventbrite’s access control system and off the shelf RFID devices.
